The Address Results List shows one entry for each address matching your search criteria, unless the address appears on more than one page, in which case there will be an entry for each page.

Only the first 300 addresses that match ALL your criteria are shown.

The additional place information shown against each address may help you to refine your search.

Sort Order of Results List
The results will be ordered by the following criteria; Administrative County, Civil Parish, House Number, Road. Due to the large variation in data collected by the Enumerator, results lists may not appear to follow this order.

Entries with no house name or number
At the time of the census many houses did not have unique numbers or names. In this case all the houses will be listed under the street name alone.

Houses missing from a Street
This may be due to the variations in the way information was recorded at the time of the Census.

The street name may have been recorded differently on some pages. eg Marlborough Street may have been sometimes written as Marlboro' St. Try omitting the "street/road/avenue" etc: and use wildcards to expand the search eg: Marlboro* will return Marlboro St and Marlborough Street.

The street may span several pages or even several Enumeration books, where there are slight differences in the Place Details recorded. eg a County or Parish Name may be abbreviated on some pages but not on others. Try varying the Place Details criteria you enter to group all the houses into one list.

You should also bear in mind that a street that today contains many houses may have contained fewer at the time of the census.
