High resolution images of the census pages are available online and are downloaded as PDFs.
PDF
The site allows a user to download images in PDF format. To view a PDF file, you will need a PDF file reader, the most popular being Adobe Acrobat reader. The Adobe Acrobat reader provides image manipulation functions (print, zoom, scroll, save) which runs on the clients machine. Adobe Acrobat reader provides extensive printing options allowing a user to scale the A3 image and print selected parts of the image.
- To use the PDF functionality, users must have Adobe Acrobat reader version 5 or above installed.
Image Navigation On the image view page, you will find the current image navigation buttons, which enable you to view other images within the same piece.
NEXT / PREVIOUS - These allow you to view the next ( or previous) sequential page in the Census data.
NEXT / PREVIOUS of same page type - These allow you to view the next (or previous) page of the same type as the one you are currently viewing.
eg: if you are viewing a page of people in a district the Next button will take you to the next page of this type, ignoring any different pages in between.
With a selection......
Where you have selected a particular schedule, address, place, vessel or institution, the buttons will operate within the boundaries of your selection. eg: The Next button will not appear on the last page of your selection.
Without a selection.....
Where you have not made a selection eg: you have used Direct Access or you have chosen "view image" for an individual, the buttons will operate within the boundaries of the current piece. Note that there may only be one image of a given type within a piece.
