Name

Type the name of the institution which you are looking for in the Name box. Sometimes the name of the institution may not have been recorded in exactly the format you know it. If you are unsure of the name or if searching on the full name does not return the institution you can insert part of the name or use wildcard characters to broaden your search. Use an asterisk to represent one or more characters and an underscore to represent a single character.

Search for a Person

If your Search for a Person has located an individual in an Institution, the name of the Institution will be shown on the transcribed details. Click on the name of the person in the search results list to see this. Note: when viewing images of the Census documents, the name of the Institution may appear only on the first page of the Institution details.

Place

The Place Keywords field could help you to narrow down the scope of your search to a particular area. You can enter any details that you know, e.g. the name of a county, a town or a parish.
